GENERAL RULES
Every filmmaker or animator, whether professional, student or amateur, can submit as many works as she/he likes. There is no submission fee. In order to register your work, you must download and read the Entry Form for Kinofest 2010 and the enclosed Rules & Regulations. Fill in the Entry Form, print it and send it by regular mail to the address in the document, accompanied by your work. See more details below.

Kinofest 2010 will take place in Bucharest, 27 – 31 October 2010.
CATEGORIES OF KINOFEST 2010
ANIMATION (3D SPACE, FX MIX_2D OR 3D, FLASH, MACHINIMA, OTHER TEHNICS)
For the Animation category, we accept films entirely computer generated, 2D and 3D animations, digitally composed hybrids which mix different techniques – e.g. live action, works made with Adobe Flash, created in 2008 or later. We accept all genres, whether artistic or commercial productions.
MICROMOVIE (90 SECONDS MAXIMUM)
For the Micromovie category, we accept films that work well on the small screens of mobile devices, created in 2008 or later. The time limit is 90 seconds, the size limit is 720×576 px. We accept all genres, whether artistic or commercial productions.
FICTION (20 MINUTES MAXIMUM)
For the Fiction category, we accept films of every genre: fiction, animation, experimental, art film etc., created in 2008 or later. The condition for participating in this category is the duration of the total footage to be under 15 minutes. We accept both artistic and commercial productions.
ACCEPTED FORMATS (see more details in the Entry Form)
Accepted formats are: Quicktime, AVI, MPG, DVD-VOB
Submitted movies should also meet the following rules:
- 10-second black screen before the movie starts
- export your movie as Quicktime, 720×576 pixels, with dv-pal compressor and 48kh sound
- burn this dv-file on a data-dvd (no multiplexed audio/video tracks) or tape your movie on a mini-dv tape

PRE-SELECTION
The Kinofest Team pre-selects the films which will be presented in the Festival and will take part in the voting process. The film will NOT be selected in any of the following cases:
- the digital videofile does not work technically or is too big
- the film does not fit into any of the Kinofest categories
- the film violates any Romanian or European laws
- the film does not match the artistic standards of the Kinofest Festival

THE COMPETITION
Each film will be preselected for one of the 3 sections of Kinofest and will enter the competition for that respective section only (Animation, Micromovie, Fiction). Each section will have one winning film, decided by a dedicated jury of Romanian personalities of the film industry and other related fields (such as advertsing). The jury of Kinofest 2010 will be anounced 1 month before the festival begins.
THE WINNERS
The prizes for the winning film of each category will be awarded during the Kinofest Gala, held during The Festival, and the author(s) of each film will receive a prize. The prizes of Kinofest 2010 will be announced soon.
The prizes of Kinofest 2008 and Kinofest 2009 were offered by Abobe Romania. Every winner received an original copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 for Mac or Windows.
